Most people are reporting that the arrival date is the 19th, straight from Shenzhen China. If you did not order from Apple and you won't be home at the time of delivery, you must complete a form at Apple.com for the delivery person to leave at your doorstep. If not, you will be waiting until Monday, and that is a long wait. Nothing confirmed that AT&T is shipping.

Check the picture, looks like they are going to speed up the OS by splitting compatibility between the 3G and the 3GS!

Is this going to be a video and camera switch for the devices? Or just launch the camera on the 3G and launch a camera/video switch for the 3GS?

'Too Expensive'...Can Apple Overcome?

iphone, iphone 3g, apple 3gs, iphone 3gs review, iphone 3gs blog, apple, osx, new apple 3gs

Apple has always been knocked for their prices being more expensive than most of its competitors.

In the speech Monday, it is becoming clear that Apple is taking this price concern, head on.

The most aggresive price move has been the decision to drop the price of the 3G to $99, 8GB that is.

The effect of this price lowering will help Apple reach an extended client base, who can better afford the devices. As compared to the $199 Palm Pre that was supposed to be the "iPhone Killer". The Pre is now $100 more and can easily help those on the fence, make a decision.

Yet, this just isn't about the Palm Pre, its any phone of higher list price in general. Such as the Android, or BlackBerry Storm.

The best way to tell how it will affect consumers, is by just doing a comparison to the last price cut, which was $399 to $199 last year, over 50% reduction! Analyst Gene Munster notes that the price cut last year tripled the sales of the device, from 4.7 million to 15 million.

There are more factors to consider now, people have iPhones already and this economic recession. However, this price cut shows Apple is being aggressive and ready for the competition.

iPhone 3GS will use PowerVR SGX, that = SPEED !!!

iphone, iphone 3g, apple 3gs, iphone 3gs review, iphone 3gs blog, apple, osx, new apple 3gs

Straight from the sources it has been reported that the new graphics processor on the iPhone 3GS is Imagination's PowerVR SGX.

It is designed "for OpenGL ES 2.0". The new specification of OpenGL for Embedded Systems will take out the majority of the fixed-function pipeline rendering for a decent programming approach to 3D rendering.

How to Tether Your iPhone 3G on PC

As promised, I am going to write you guys and gals a tutorial on how to get that iPhone tethered when in need of some Internet.

The first thing you are going to want to do, is ensure that you have two applications on your device beforehand, 3proxy -and- MobileTerminal.

After you have installed these applications (which can be found on Cydia), you will need to set up an Ad-Hoc Connection on your PC, wireless.

iphone, iphone 3g, apple 3gs, iphone 3gs review, iphone 3gs blog, apple, osx, new apple 3gsiphone, iphone 3g, apple 3gs, iphone 3gs review, iphone 3gs blog, apple, osx, new apple 3gs

For the Ad-Hoc connection, set up a Wireless Network. Go to your properties of your current wireless network, switch to the Wireless Networks tab and then for Preferred Networks, click on the Add button. On the Association Tab, start filling in all of the necessary information. I usually leave Data encryption as None but you are welcome to use some sort of Key. Also select that it is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network.

iphone, iphone 3g, apple 3gs, iphone 3gs review, iphone 3gs blog, apple, osx, new apple 3gs

After the network is created, open your list of Wireless Networks and Join this network. (Connect).

iphone, iphone 3g, apple 3gs, iphone 3gs review, iphone 3gs blog, apple, osx, new apple 3gs

The next thing that you will want to do is join this newly created WiFi Network, with your iPhone. Once connected, go into the settings of this WiFi Network once connected and take down the IP address, like below:]

iphone, iphone 3g, apple 3gs, iphone 3gs review, iphone 3gs blog, apple, osx, new apple 3gs

Next, go into the General settings of your iPhone and set Auto-Lock to Never.

Once you have done this, on the iPhone, launch MobileTerminal. Once MobileTerminal is fully loaded up, using your keypad on the iPhone, type "socks" and then hit Return. Set iPhone in safe place and do not exit anything.

On your PC, launch Firefox or any web browser, try going to a webpage.

If the website does not load, you will want to configure your browser to connect through a Proxy.

On Firefox, you can go to Preferences > Advanced > Network > Settings. Then fill in the iPhone's IP address you wrote down, into the SOCKS Host field, and also use 1080 as the Port number.

iphone, iphone 3g, apple 3gs, iphone 3gs review, iphone 3gs blog, apple, osx, new apple 3gs

3Proxy SOCKS proxy can resolve DNS target names if the application sends domain name resolving requests to the SOCKS proxy. Each application that requires to go to Internet via SOCKS proxy has to be configured manually. Most programs will attempt to resolve a domain name against remote DNS server via HTTP protocol.

To enable this in Firefox, go to the address bar and type "about:config" without quotes. Firefox will tell you these are basically critical settings, and asks you to Promise them you know what you're doing. After promising, in the Filter search field, type "proxy" and hit enter. Then find "network.proxy.socks_remote_dns" and change the value to true instead of false.

Voila! You should be fully tethered and ready to surf, careful with the downloading though, AT&T may catch on and say something to you!
